It transitioned from being the first private luxury Parisian bathhouse to the legendary Les Bains Douches nightclub—a Parisian parallel of Studio 54 and a cultural pivot point for the city. Now transformed into a disruptive 5-star hotel, it fuses historical grace with contemporary opulence, featuring a spa while maintaining the nightclub's celebratory spirit.

1885: THE TEMPLE OF SENSORY PLEASURE

In 1885 Auguste Guerbois founded the most luxurious private bath in Paris, which quickly became a Parisan temple of beauty and well-being, where the elite and 1900’s artists met, such as Manet, Monet, Renoir, Zola, or Proust.

The Guerbois family not only established Les Bains Guerbois but also managed the renowned "Café Guerbois," a popular spot for intellectuals and artists during the Belle Époque era. It was frequented by prominent figures like Renoir and Monet, making it a hub of artistic and cultural exchange in Paris at the time.

The Spa Les Bains Guerbois offered a full range of services, from Turkish baths to massages, home baths, and a tea salon. 1885 Bains Sulfureux captures the very air of the establishment, an aromatic amber fragrance blending a thousand essences of benzoin, tonka beans, and incense.

1978: LES BAINS DOUCHES, THE EFFERVESCENCE OF PARISIAN NIGHTS

In 1978, the building was given a new lease on life. It became a rock concert hall, a restaurant, and a nightclub: Les Bains Douches, a Parisian parallel of Studio 54 in New York. The building entered a new golden age and became a legend - a cultural pivot point for the city, attracting a global array of creatives, fashion icons, and A-list celebrities for over 25 years. People from all over the world came to Les Bains Douches to soak up its vibrant spirit and unique lifestyle.

Among the tables, fashion legends such as Thierry Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier could be spotted alongside celebrities like Naomi Campbell and Catherine Deneuve. The dance floor, designed by Philippe Starck, saw performances by Depeche Mode, Joy Division and Prince while icons like Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Karl Lagerfeld looked on. It was a place where the beauty of models collided with the intensity of actors and the charm of writers like Françoise Sagan.

Inspired by this wild atmosphere, Jean-Pierre launched 1978 Les Bains Douches, a gourmand and intoxicating fragrance that captures the vibes of the world's trendiest club. Flashes, lively conversations, a hypnotic dance blending whiskey, blond tobacco, and vanilla.

LES BAINS OF THE 21ST CENTURY

Au début des années 2000, le club a connu de meilleurs jours et s’est dégradé. Le bâtiment lui-même était menacé, ce qui a entraîné sa fermeture dans l’attente d’une restauration majeure pour le sauver.
Pour préserver le célèbre club et restaurant et sauvegarder le patrimoine historique du bâtiment, Jean-Pierre Marois a mis en place une Résidence d’Artistes éphémère.

Walls are transformed by the works of underground street artists - from legendary octogenarian Jacques Villeglé to Portuguese painter VHILS, via C215, Ash, Mr Brainwash, Space Invader and Sten Lex. A first one-two punch artistic event that reawakened the myth.

2013 Artist Residence is a tribute to this residency. An explosion of colors and fragrances based on peach, violet, and sandalwood. A fruity woody fragrance that captures the essence of the crème de la crème of Street Artists.

2015: LIKE A PHENIX, LES BAINS REGENERATES FROM ITS ASHES

First a Spa, then a nightclub, and now a disruptive 5-star hotel.

In 2015, after years of renovation, Jean-Pierre Marois, heir of the place, opened Les Bains of the 21st century. A new page in the history of its iconic building located in the heart of Paris, and at the crossroads of the medieval Marais, the Archives Royales and the modern Centre Pompidou.

Jean-Pierre Marois enlisted top talents like Vincent Bastie and Tristan Auer to revitalize Les Bains Paris, blending historical charm with contemporary allure. The Roxo restaurant offers an eclectic menu in a fusion of Roaring Twenties and futuristic aesthetics. Retaining nods to its past, the hotel features hammams and a boutique selling Les Bains Guerbois products. Weekly concerts, festivals, and exhibitions keep the venue vibrant, honoring its artistic legacy. Les Bains Paris invites guests to indulge their senses, offering a blend of nostalgia and modern luxury.

To pay tribute to this iconic place, Jean-Pierre launched 2015 Le Phénix, a subtle spiral of cardamom, papyrus, and incense.

2016 : LES BAINS GUERBOIS, THE RENAISSANCE

In 2016, Jean-Pierre Marois reinvents Les Bains Guerbois. He aims to give his hotel a distinctive fragrance, leading to the creation of a scented candle named Atmosphère, developed in collaboration with Dorothée Piot (French master perfumer for Yohji Yamamoto, Kilian, Escada, Mugler, Trudon, Diptyque, etc.), and a first signature Eau de Cologne by Michel Almairac (French master perfumer for Dior, Chloé, Ormaie, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, etc.).

In 2018, fascinated by the creative exchange with the perfumer, he decided to continue the olfactory adventure, resulting in the successful launch of an award-winning collection of Eaux de Parfum, Une Date, Une Histoire. Each fragrance is an olfactory journey through a specific year in the rich history of Les Bains Guerbois, which spans 140 years.

In 2022, with the goal of highlighting more marvels of this iconic destination, Jean-Pierre Marois launched Formes & Matières, a second collection that captures the essence of Les Bains Paris through fragrance, encapsulating its architecture, textures, and materials.
