FANNY BAL

Fanny Bal is the perfumer behind the Eaux de Parfum 2018 Roxo Tonic and Damier for Les Bains Guerbois.

Born in Lyon, Fanny Bal discovered perfumery while studying chemistry. She continued her training with the Master’s degree in Fragrance Formulation at ISIPCA before joining IFF. There, she worked alongside master perfumer Dominique Ropion, who became her mentor. In 2025, Fanny Bal joined Givaudan in Paris as a Senior Perfumer.

Her creative process often begins with the encounter between two raw materials and the construction of an accord around that combination. Passionate about materials, contrasts and olfactory textures, she creates fragrances that are elegant, expressive and sensorial.

2018 ROXO TONIC

For 2018 Roxo Tonic, Fanny Bal draws inspiration from Roxo, the bar and restaurant at Les Bains Paris. Bergamot, lemon, ginger, gentian, vetiver and musks create a fresh and effervescent interpretation of the gin and tonic.

DAMIER

With Damier, Fanny Bal translates the famous black and white chequerboard floor of Les Bains Paris into fragrance. Black pepper, patchouli and aldehydes contrast with the softness of sandalwood, milky notes and white musks.

• REPLICA When the Rain Stops, Maison Margiela, winner of Fragrance of the Year, Universal Prestige at the 2023 Fragrance Foundation Awards.
• Absolue Storm & Roses, Lancôme, created around Centifolia rose, blackcurrant and patchouli.
• Punk Romantic, Valentino Beauty, a recent creation from the Anatomy of Dreams haute parfumerie collection.

Through these creations, as in her work for Les Bains Guerbois, Fanny Bal explores contrasts between freshness and sensuality, light and depth, familiar materials and unexpected accords.
