MATHIEU NARDIN

Mathieu Nardin is the perfumer behind the Eau de Parfum Oud Laqué for Les Bains Guerbois.

Originally from Grasse, Mathieu Nardin grew up in direct contact with the raw materials of perfumery. The grandson of rose, jasmine and verbena growers, he developed a special relationship with flowers, citrus fruits and natural woods from an early age.

After studying chemistry in Nice and training at ISIPCA, he joined Robertet in Grasse before moving to New York in 2013. In 2018, he joined the creative team at MANE, where he works today as a perfumer.

Mathieu Nardin belongs to a generation of perfumers who combine the traditional know-how of Grasse with contemporary technologies. His work often begins with the raw material itself, revealing an unexpected facet while preserving its clarity and natural character.

OUD LAQUÉ

For Oud Laqué, Mathieu Nardin draws inspiration from the dark, glossy and precious woods that shape the interiors of Les Bains Paris. Raspberry, cardamom and saffron open the composition before a heart of rose, Bourbon geranium and guaiac wood. Oud, Siam benzoin and patchouli form a warm, smoky and sensual base.

Created in 2022 for the Formes & Matières collection, Oud Laqué offers a Parisian interpretation of oud, where the depth of the wood meets the tangy brightness of raspberry and the spicy facets of saffron.

Mathieu Nardin has created or co-created numerous fragrances for international perfume and luxury houses. His creations include:

• Scherzo, Miller Harris, launched in 2018 and now one of the house’s best-sellers, a floral and woody composition inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel Tender Is the Night.
• Tenue de Soirée, Goutal, a gourmand chypre built around red fruits, iris, patchouli, praline and musks.
• Smoking Hot, KILIAN PARIS, a creation built around a hookah accord, Kentucky tobacco and Bourbon vanilla.
• Atelier des Fleurs Orchidée de Minuit, Chloé, co-created with Cécile Matton, a composition built around orchid, rum, jasmine, resins and vanilla.
• Above the Waves, État Libre d’Orange, a recent creation built around bergamot, cardamom, incense, tea and mate.
• Midnight Espresso, KILIAN PARIS, a recent creation built around coffee, rum, hazelnut, chocolate and Bourbon vanilla.
